Harang is a white-furred cat shapeshifter. Unlike the usual carnivorous shapeshifters, she has a delicate physique and specific physical skills, which resulted in her being bullied throughout her childhood in an orphanage. Even though she has managed to support herself as a postal civil servant, she finds herself ostracized at work once more due to malicious gossip propagated by her boss after she rejected his unreasonable demands. In an unexpected turn of events, she learns that she is a wizard. Carl Riverson is an agent from a special forces unit for shapeshifters. He has come to Terberat, far from his usual workplace, on a leave of absence. On his first day in this new location, he encounters Harang again—a shapeshifter from his past who made a strong impression on him as a child and still affects him in his adult life. Determined not to let Harang slip away, Carl starts to pursue her actively.
