Rawon is a realm where deities and humans live alongside each other. In this world, the gods draw strength from human admiration and utilize that power to safeguard humans, while humans thrive under the protection of the gods, existing within a "cycle of awe and grace." Yusa, the spirit of the Cheongyugang River, has shunned human admiration for nearly a hundred years following the heartbreak of losing his beloved human disciple, Tan-eo. Whenever he is faced with the possibility of losing his divine status and becoming a mere creature, he clings to his fragile existence by borrowing his divinity through a connection with Gaho, the mountain god who harbors a secret love for him. Meanwhile Dajin, the offspring of a great general whose clan was destroyed by a malevolent god, longs to be a disciple of a god and to achieve the title of "Human Emperor" purely for the sake of revenge. He seeks to become Gaho's disciple, showcasing his remarkable martial skills, but is turned down as Gaho perceives the vengeance that consumes his heart. In despair, feeling that the gods have forsaken both his parents and him, Dajin ultimately plunges into the Cheongyu River.
