Woo Min-jo's whole existence has been pledged as collateral to settle the debt incurred by his mother. Consequently, he finds himself employed as a caf girl at Pumpkin Teahouse in the sleazy town of Mugwang. Enduring cold showers, sleeping and eating in a storage area, repaying who-knows-how-much interest, and perpetually managing Madam Kim Jung-sook's outbursts, Min-jo's life is so bleak that he'd prefer to serve in the military twice instead. One day, he takes over a shift for Hyeon-yang, a fellow caf girl who is skipping work, and brings coffee in red heels to the office of Gimun Construction. This location is the epicenter of Mugwang's underbelly, home to the most infamous gangsters. It's such a perilous place that they won't even unlock the door unless they catch a glimpse of an attractive ankle through the peephole. It turns out this wasn't a curse, but rather a prophecy. The way President Chu's gaze lingers on him feels off. With a casual "Let's meet often," Min-jo's 23-year existence at rock bottom abruptly shifts into the embrace of a lovesick gangster.
